IN ADDITION to working as the director, Kyle Brown was a longtime staff member of the sports conglomerate ESPN.

On Saturday, June 10, 2023, Brown tragically died after suffering a medical emergency at the age of 42.

Who was ESPN director Kyle Brown?

Brown was employed by the media company for 16 years.

As per ESPN, he “worked on various sports” at the network, including basketball, and baseball, and football.

Brown had a successful career in the sports industry that earned him two Sports Emmy Awards.

Did Kyle Brown play sports?

In addition to his work in sports production, Brown was also a former athlete.

He was a pitcher for the Ohio State University baseball team during his college years.

While at Ohio State, Brown also studied communications.

On April 21, 2003, the school’s website published quotes from Brown in which he discussed his sports experience and his passion for ESPN.

He said: “My neighbor, who is a director at ESPN, brought me along to watch Ohio State play Purdue. I sat in the television truck and said ‘Man, that’s cool how they do that’ and ever since then I fell in love with it.”

Brown began working with ABC and ESPN during his freshman year at the Ohio school.

What happened to Kyle Brown?

As reported by ESPN, Brown died on June 10, 2023, following a medical emergency at the NCAA baseball super regional in Winston Salem, North Carolina at the age of 42.

On June 11, ESPN said in a statement: “A 16-year ESPN employee, Kyle was a deeply admired member of our production team — and highly accomplished, having captured two Sports Emmy Awards while working a multitude of sports from baseball and basketball to Monday Night Football and college football.”

The network also tweeted the statement, which continued: “A former Ohio State pitcher, Kyle cherished the opportunity to have a career in sports.”

It continued by saying that Brown’s “ESPN family wishes to extend our deepest condolences and support” to his “loved ones.”

According to the outlet, he is survived by his wife Megan and their four kids: Makayla, 14, Carson, 11, Camden nine, and Madyn, six, as well as their “beloved” dog Rookie.

At this time, Brown’s cause of death is unknown.
